Let’s Be Prepared: Volunteers Needed to Sew Fabric Masks

Due to a potential shortage of masks worldwide, we are proactively requesting support from the community with the making of material masks for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital. If you are able to sew and willing to help, we thank you in advance for sharing your time and skills.

These material masks would only be used in an appropriate manner as indicated, if our regular supply of masks becomes unavailable.

As there is a limited supply of materials, we appreciate you volunteering your own reserves of materials to help our community.

To make these masks you will require cotton fabric (tightly woven) and 1/8” elastic.

Home-made masks have to be made with a specific pattern to ensure they can protect our healthcare workers most effectively. The pattern is linked below for those who are able to help.

I would ask that you put any masks you make in a plastic bag and drop them off in the bin outside of my home at 435 Barr Street, Renfrew.  If you need the masks picked up, please contact either me or Shauna Lemenchick to organize.

If you have any further questions, please email: dillaboughp@renfrewhosp.com

or Shauna Lemenchick at slemenchick@sympatico.ca or PM either of us on facebook .

Thank you for your support during this time. We thank everyone for their efforts in protecting our community from the spread of COVID-19. At a time when most people are able to stay home to protect themselves and others, healthcare workers do not have that option. We greatly appreciate community support to help during this unprecedented time.
