Can you imagine 3 races in 2 days amounting to 36.1km?
Charlene Nolan and her dad Hugh have set this physical goal as they set out to conquer the 2020 VOYAGEUR CHALLENGE as part of the Tamarack Race Weekend in Ottawa May 23-24.
Voyageur Challenge participants will run three events during the 2020 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend: the Ottawa 5K, the Ottawa 10K and the Scotiabank Ottawa Half-Marathon.
Two days. Three events. For an impressive 36.1 KM in total distance!
Charlene and Hugh will be “RUNNING with a PURPOSE” as they collect pledges and donations for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Oncology Department. Their “PURPOSE” is to support the department that has become such a vital part of their family life with both Mom (Wife) and Aunt currently undergoing chemotherapy treatments “close to home”.
“The opportunity to have treatments done right here at our own hospital is not only convenient but also so comforting. We want to support RVH Oncology in recognition of all of the folks who have had treatment or who are currently undergoing treatment so we are collecting pledges for our VOYAGEUR CHALLENGE. We want to do our part to keep this service close to home. A cancer diagnosis is devastating but the opportunity to have treatments in a familiar surrounding with wonderful, caring and compassionate staff makes the journey just a little bit easier. We want to run to help others!”
