CELEBRATION OF LIFE

Friday January 31, 2020 marked the final Celebration of Life Event hosted by the Gillan girls; April, Alyssa and Amber in memory of their mom Janet Robertson who was the founding member of the event and a strong supporter of RVH Oncology.

Celebration of Life Day in Renfrew kicked off with a Celebration Breakfast at Rocky Mountain House followed by Lunch at Finnigan’s Road House and then Renfrew Pizzaria for dinner.  The evening was topped off by another outstanding dance at the Renfrew Armouries with entertainment by the Ghost Town Criers and the Riley New Band.  The dance floor was full and the community support was incredible.  Special thanks to all of the businesses and individuals who donated towards the Silent Auction and food for the late night luncheon.  Celebration of Life 2020 raised an overwhelming $20,000!  It was a wonderful send off for these amazing young women who have dedicated time and energy into continuing this event  in memory and recognition of their Mom, Janet Robertson.  The girls have been incredible Ambassadors for the hospital and their family.  We cannot thank them enough for carrying on this popular event for the past 5 years.  It was a wonderful sendoff for the girls and another incredible fundraising event for RVH Mammography/Oncology.

GIVING TUESDAY was a huge success.  All donations received on Giving Tuesday for our TREE of LIGHTS campaign were MATCHED by Jon Pole of MYFM!  Every dollar donated became two dollars!  THANK YOU to Jon Pole and MYFM for investing so generously to our hospital!

Our first CATCH the ACE Adventure was a huge success thanks to the overwhelming support of our vendors, volunteers, RVH Management and Staff and our amazing community!  The ACE of SPADES remained hidden on the playing board until WEEK 46, when it was revealed behind Envelope Number 42.  Mike Adlington of Ashton, Ontario was the big winner, taking home over $1.6 Million dollars.  The RVH Foundation raised a record-breaking $2.5 Million which will purchase essential equipment for the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.  Capital Equipment is not funded by the Government and the dollars must be raised by the hospital foundation to ensure that our physicians and medical staff have the best equipment to provide the best in care, close to home.

The proceeds from our Catch the Ace will be funding the refurbishment of our main x-ray suite complete with room renovations, new state of the art equipment and IT infrastructure; a new portable x-ray machine which will allow technicians to go to the patient in emergency or in their hospital room; new defibilators for all departments within the hospital; anthesthesia equipment for the Operating Room.

Stay tuned for news of the LAUNCH Date for our next CATCH THE ACE Progressive Lottery!

Thank you for your outstanding support of our Catch the Ace Lottery! The RVH Foundation Team
