A new partnership between the Renfrew Wolves Hockey Club and the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation was formed this year and has resulted in some amazing results for our RVH Mammography Unit. Hockey club owners Jim and Natalie Seyers were very excited to collaborate with the Foundation on this new project to raise funds and awareness for Breast cancer in our area.

Our joint “PINK THE RINK” project planning took off with great enthusiasm and the Renfrew JRA WOLVES promoted at their game on October 26th and the Renfrew JRB TIMBERWOLVES on Sunday October 27th. The Renfrew Wolves hockey club sold special RVH/Wolves Pink shirts to raise funds and folks attending were encouraged to wear pink. Both team sported custom PINK Jerseys for their games which were auctioned off after the game and the funds raised were part of the PINK THE RINK fundraising project. Special Breast cancer warriors were invited for the ceremonial puck drop at each game and everyone in attendance had the opportunity to show support for all who fight the fight!

The Renfrew JRB TIMBERWOLVES took the opportunity to tour the Renfrew Victoria Hospital over Pink the Rink weekend and got to see first hand where the dollars raised were going. The tour of the Mammography department which houses our new state-of-the-art tomosynthesis 3D Mammography machine was especially impacting and the team had lots of questions of the importance of having this equipment in our hospital.

The “PINK the RINK” weekend resulted in Jim and Natalie presenting a cheque for $3400.00 to our RVH Foundation to be directed to our RVH Mammography unit to purchase equipment specific to breast health.

THANK YOU to the Renfrew Wolves Junior Hockey club for their support and community involvement. Ownership, management and both teams showed exceptional community leadership and we truly appreciate their support of our Breast Cancer month events.
