“Giving our BEST each day to build on the proud past of RVH and the RVH Foundation.”

That statement exemplifies the motto of our Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation team! Every year, our team chooses a new project to focus our fundraising efforts on. This year, we have chosen to purchase a state-of-the-art Tomosynthesis Mammogram machine for our Mammography Department. Our previous machine was at end of life and no longer has equipment support so not only did we plan on purchasing a new mammography machine but we have chosen to upgrade to a tomosynthesis machine which will allow for 3D imaging which is very similar to the degree of a CT scan.

This new machine will allow our Mammography technologists to perform biopsies as well onsite. This will result in RVH becoming an official Assessment Centre for the Ontario Breast Screening program allowing our patients to have this degree of imaging available closer to home. We are very excited to purchase this valuable piece of equipment for RVH.

Our new state of the art Mammogram machine has arrived, been installed and will take it’s first patient on November 23rd. Also installed with the new tomosynthesis machine are two sensory screens to help the patient to relax while having the procedure done. Different relaxation screens complete with sound effects can be chosen by the patient to make their experience just that little bit easier.

We will be continuing to focus our fund raising efforts until the end of our fiscal year occurring in March of 2023 to meet the financial requirements for our new Mammogram. Thank you to our wonderful community for continuing to support our endeavours.

Bring care closer to home!
